More About the 50/50 Women on Boards Organization

The 2020 Women on Boards concept was brought to life in 2010 with the goal of having women comprise more than 20% of all company board of director seats in the United States.  That goal was achieved in 2019.

The organization has now changed its name to 50/50 Women on Boards and its goal is to have women comprise more than 50% of all company board of director seats in the United States, a number more representative of the actual population.  50/50 Women on Boards has grown from a national to a worldwide organization, with members from all populated continents.  The campaign redefines good corporate governance and gender diversity standards and creates a cultural importance for corporate action.  Independent studies have shown that public companies with women on their boards outperform boards with only men when it comes to profitability, productivity, and workforce engagement.

In a true cultural revolution, institutional investors, state governments, and stock exchanges are now mandating that public companies have women and minorities on their boards.

Having women on boards not only benefits the company but benefits society as a whole by promoting career advancement opportunities for women. It also fosters a healthy workplace culture with equal opportunities for women leaders.

To get more involved with this cause and learn how you can make an impact, check out 50/50 Women on Boards.
